Marken is closely monitoring the ongoing developments of an expected one (1) day strike, which will commence and end on Monday, March 27, by The Verdi Trade Union in Germany. The strike was called for by the public service, aviation security and ground handling service workers.

We understand there will be significant disruptions and delays to most German airports (FRA, MUC, STR, DTM, HAM, HAJ & BRE) and surrounding regions. This also includes other types of transport, such as rail, local transport services, and the handling and release of imports into Germany as well.

Please note, that Marken has implemented contingency plans, leveraging our UPS network, and diverting exports to other airports, to avoid impacts wherever possible. Our team is proactively working with our clients to provide alternative arrangements and our Customer Service team will communicate any necessary updates to clients as this ongoing situation progresses.

On behalf of our global team, our hearts and thoughts go out to all of those affected by the recent devastating disaster in Turkey. Marken is closely following reports across the snowy region of Southern Turkey where a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck on February 6.

10 cities were affected: Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Osmaniye, Adiyaman, Malatya, Sanliurfa, Adana, Diyarbakir and Kilis, including some domestic airports & hospitals. As a result, restrictions for collections and deliveries have been impacted.

Marken and UPS Operations Teams are monitoring all shipments that may be impacted and are taking the necessary steps with Business Continuity Plans in place, to proactively mitigate disruptions for our clients and patients.
